An engineer named Bob.
There was once a Data Centre Cooling / CRAC sales engineer named Bob
Bob was a hardworking guy who took his job very seriously. He spent long hours selling cooling systems to data centres all over the country, but despite his efforts, he never seemed to get any recognition.
Bob's bosses never seemed to notice the long hours he put in, the countless deals he closed, or the extra effort he put in to make sure his customers were happy. They would always overlook him when it came time for promotions or bonuses, and he was constantly passed over for recognition in company meetings.
Despite all of this, Bob soldiered on, convinced that if he just worked hard enough, he would eventually get the praise and reward he deserved. He never realised that his competitors would happily snap him up, and give him a better job with better pay and more appreciation, based on his current value.
As time passed, Bob became more and more disillusioned. He started to feel like he was stuck in a dead-end job and that his hard work was for nothing. He became grumpier and more irritable, and his colleagues started to avoid him.
One day, a headhunter contacted Bob and offered him a job with a rival data centre cooling company that had better pay, more perks, an upbeat and nurturing culture, and more opportunities for advancement. But Bob was too blinded by his loyalty to his current company to even consider it. He turned down the offer, convinced that he would eventually get the recognition he deserved.
Years went by, and Bob remained in the same position, working hard and never getting the appreciation and treatment he was worthy of.
The End. 😐
Don't be like Bob. Blind loyalty is a mugs game...
People, teams & companies change. Sometimes for the better, sometimes not.
It’s not 'selfish' to make a change too, if it's best for your career & general happiness.
(ALTERNATE ENDING: Bob took a leap of faith, and dropped a recruitment specialist in his sector a discrete message, requesting to hear about some of the fantastic CRAC, Precision AC, Process Cooling roles out there. He landed a fantastic job, and never looked back).
