I enjoy being micromanaged!
Said no one. EVER!
Now, I speak to A LOT of people!
I don’t think I’ve ever heard someone say that they enjoy being micromanaged.
You all want to be empowered, autonomous, happy, free?
That’s fine, I get it, me too!
But if you want to be successful, you’re still going to need to be micromanaged…it’ll just be you doing it.
The driving force for some, is the threat of failure. For others, the allure of reward.
Either way, you’re going to need to face up to the differences between Motivation & Discipline if you want to make it!
🔍 The Motivation Mirage: Igniting the Fire 🔥
Motivation sparks enthusiasm, fueled by external factors like recognition or personal aspirations. However, it's not always reliable:
💥 Peaks and Valleys: Motivation surges with goals and inspiration but fades, leaving us adrift.
🌪️ Whirlwind of Busyness: Motivation can deceive, making us feel productive while being busy but unfulfilled.
⚡ The Power of Discipline: Nurturing Consistency 💪
Discipline propels us forward through consistent action:
🚀 Long-Term Sustainability: Discipline establishes habits for steady progress.
🔒 Cultivating Resilience: Discipline empowers us to overcome challenges and self-doubt.
🌟 From Busyness to Productivity: Discipline guides prioritisation and effective time management.
4 months into setting up my own business, after 13 years in the sector…what approach have I found helpful?
Blending Motivation and Discipline!
Set Meaningful Goals: Let motivation ignite the fire and discipline keep it burning.
Create Rituals and Routines: Establish habits that nurture discipline.
Stay Focused on Priorities: Differentiate urgent and important tasks.
Embrace Progress Over Perfection: Celebrate consistent effort and progress.
Happy ‘hump day’ to all my connections. Keep pushing, and embrace the grind.
